Xplor UK & Ireland is hosting a special event at The British Library Conference Centre on Tuesday, 23 October 2012, entitled What’s the matter with kids today: training the next generation.

There is a major problem in our industry today — most of our successors in development and operations understand only a portion of the technology and practices employed. They use terminology unique to their organisation, resulting in confusion among suppliers and the actual document owners. This situation leads to scope creep, re-work, delays, and mistakes. It can even lead to privacy and security exposures. As managers of people and projects, we need to recognise and correct these gaps in our team.

One organisation, Lloyds Banking Group, has addressed this problem. Through their management efforts over 50 development, operations, and client specialists have achieved the first level designation in the Xplor Electronic Document Professional program — the Electronic Document Associate (EDA).

How does your organisation compare? Do they invest in the education and training of staff on an ongoing basis to improve efficiency and staff morale or to improve business continuity?
